Reading through year-end “best of” lists and my friends’ social media, it sometimes seems that it is not love, nor Christmas, but suffering that was all around.
Tim, let it be known that I think you are a funny, gifted guy and It seems if one is lucky enough to be reading what you write, then one's lot is not that bad.
I admit though, that my only struggle is trying to come to terms with how many fellow travelers on the planet just don't give a damn about others....
In these times it is best to heed Mr. Rogers' mother's words. "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

Good piece of work, Tim. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Thanks for your positive attitude. Yes, it’s been a year of challenges, internationally and nationally.
But we are still fortunate enough to be living in a Democracy, with a regard for human rights, the strongest economy on the planet, and a rule by laws. Ask most immigrants how thankful they are to be here.
Thank you so much for this much needed uplifting piece and wishing all at the Bulwark a year ahead of excellence, good health and good news. A thank you for introducing me to Matt LaBash this year. One of my gifts to myself from you and yours.
If you grew up during WW2 this is really not that bad. Cut off the Republicans yapping and look at the numbers. Yes, things cost a bit more but interest rates are still low, just look at the housing boom.
Thank you! The constant onslaught of bad news in politics, the economy and the pandemic is inducing PTSD in many of us. The other side of the coin doesn’t get much attention but surely we can look beyond the bad news bullhorn and see that governance has improved (even if politics still sucks), the economy is much better and with the advent of vaccinations the pandemic is less scary (at least for those who get vaccinated). So, onward to an even better 2022.
Thanks for a positive spin. I am hoping the first six months of 2022 will only get better. I want to thank you, Amanda and especially Charlie for turning the Bulwark into my favorite daily podcast and read.
That's as lovely as it is timely, Tim. Thanks! As one who loves and appreciates my own life - wife, grown up kids, music, our farm - but feels relentless stress about the broader world, your admonishment is much needed. I've spent most of my life trying to make the world a better place, but it sure seems to be going in the opposite direction most of the time. So again, thanks!
Thank you, Tim! Happy New Year! You have articulated what we all need now moving forward! I so appreciate ALL of the intelligent, honest, thoughtful and realistic narratives you and the entire staff at The Bulwark bring into our world. Let's kick off 2022 with some hope and be more like Mr. Rogers!!

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That’s how the light get in

Thank you for the thoughtful inspiration and call to action.
I add my Quaker grandmothers version of her call to action to her grandchildren…
“To those to whom much is given, much is expected”
Thanks--very well argued.
Argument: 2021 was at least better than 2020. Discuss.
A 2022 resolution: end Trumpism! Or at least make it unpalatable politically.
It is always good to consider the half full part of the glass, even when your politics have shattered it on the floor.
Thanks Tim for the insight. Good way to start the day. Don’t stop

Thanks Tim! I needed this!
It’s going to happen Tim! I am feeling hopeful! Baton Rouge for the Bama Game? Geaux Tigers.
