Why is there so much talk about Biden's age while there is dead silence about Trump's obvious ever-increasing dementia. This isn't Trump being intentional - this is Trump's brain slowly turning to jelly. At this point he should be declared unfit to be tried because he can’t help but incriminate himself on the stand. The filter part of his brain no longer exists. So, the next constitutional crises: Can a person who has been put under a conservatorship by his children to protect them still run for President? Trump will become our new Brittany.

I'm going to assume musk knows something about electric cars and something about rockets, but what he most assuredly doesn't know is the limits of his own knowledge.

That Trump is a raving, manic, sociopath has become obvious to everyone except a large group of current Republicans who share many of the same characteristics. These other destructive loonies, M.T. Greene, Comer, Gaetz, Cruz, Paul, and the others in that group, are not as manic or as quick with a threatening, harmful response. Yet, if 35% of Republicans, and 22% of Americans want Trump, then he remains the front-runner for the nomination. I was very disappointed when I listened to one of the Bulwark podcasts and heard three people acknowledge this and just shrug, kind of helplessly. I mean Trump came out in favor of separating children from their families, and that’s OK?

So, then the alternative is Governor DeSantis, a man who is rapidly moving to the right of Trump. He is moving quickly into straight-up Nazi mode, banning books, movies, plays, gatherings, and businesses that allow the sight of gay people. He has already told Black people that their history is irrelevant and sent his special voting police to stop them from voting. I am old enough to remember my father telling me about all of the cousins I will never have because a man in Germany began by doing things like this and moved on from there. Who is really paying for all of this? This is what the billionaire donors to the Republican Party want? Is it driven by insatiable greed, white supremacy, or just cruelty? Could someone please explain it to me.

As soon as I read "informant is missing" I knew one of the hot takes was going to be "Biden Administration is threatening them".

I was not disappointed.

I found Trump’s Mother’s Day post interesting, not because of the incoherent, psychotic ranting and raving to which we are accustomed. But I thought it interesting that, in what was allegedly a Mother’s Day post, he didn’t so much as mention his own mother, or the mothers of his children, or his daughters who are mothers, or any mothers for that matter, but used it simply as an excuse to drone on about his own personal grievances and victimhood yet again. His narcissism is shocking. But yes, we already knew that too.

“I think he always thinks in terms of winning and losing,” McCaul answered. “I will say this, I think what he is thinking is that this counteroffensive, which is happening soon, will be so successful we can have a ceasefire and get to a negotiating phase.”

The idea that Trump was actually thinking that is even funnier than the idea that Rick Perry is thinking of running again now that he knows which 3 departments of government he wants to abolish.

The fact that Comer can't keep track of his whistleblowers seems, somehow, to be expected. Jim Jordan had the credibility of his whistleblowers questioned. Ron Johnson is saying we should not expect hard evidence of malfeasance. What a bunch of maroons, as Bugs Bunny would say. And it's costing us a pretty penny. Perhaps Biden can require the cost of these House investigations to cut as part of the negotiations. This would align with the House wanting to cut wasteful federal spending.

I thought the Rick Perry line was a joke. I mean this is the guy who wanted to eliminate a cabinet level dept but just couldn't remember which one. The sec of energy who wanted to put up utility poles and string wires across Africa to bring poor villages phones and electricity. The Africans were a bit confused and discussed it over their cell phones powered by the solar arrays installed by China. How come no one ever looked into the massive oil and gas deal he brokered in Ukraine just after he resigned as Sec of Energy, I believe the rumor was it made billions for him and his partners and the contacts he had made in Ukraine were the key. Of course he wrote those tweets. Being governor of TX does not automatically mean you should be president in spite of what Perry and Abbott seem to think. The intelligence of TX governors has been on the decline with W having been the smartest, Perry we know about, and Abbott is not just dumb but cruel. As for the next heir apparent Patrick, the guy who is totally obsessed with where people go to the bathroom, I seriously doubt the man has opposable thumbs.

We need to listen to Elon Musk, because he is a certified genius who is always right and never wrong.

So when he tells us that "by free speech, I simply mean that which matches the law," and "if people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people" we have to conclude that speech is free when it is what the government's law makes it.

So when Trump takes office in 20 months, and either by emergency decree or by legislation defines speech that is legally prohibited, then that makes speech not prohibited free.

This is perfectly coherent and true here in Oceana. Next up: Elon explains Freedom and Strength.

Yes, on May 14, 2023, the Commonwealth of Virginia struck a blow against the Commonwealth of Virginia. According to the letter sent by the Commissioner of Elections, "... ERIC's mandate has expanded beyond that of its initial intent — to improve the accuracy of voter rolls..."

Say what???

The Governor's official explanation was somewhat more explicit: "Virginia withdrew from ERIC because Virginians’ data was shared with an ERIC-affiliated research organization and despite its efforts, Virginia was unable to reform ERIC. As stewards of Virginia taxpayer dollars, it was also necessary to remove the Commonwealth from ERIC’s significantly increasing costs."

Which is, um, bullshit.

As is commonly known to those who want to base their knowledge on fact, Virginia was involved in the organization and promotion of ERIC. ERIC shares data derived from state agencies (voter registrations, DMV licenses, Social Security death information), between participating states that those states use to clean up their voter rolls.

Participating states can also use ERIC data to identify residents who are qualified (per state law) to vote but who have not registered to vote.

AHA!

Pardon me(!) for suggesting that this latter potential use of ERIC data MIGHT BE TOXIC to Republican legislators and Republican state election officials. After all, it must be assumed that only U.S. citizens who either are members of - or who appear to lean toward - the Democrat Party would act on such an offer. You know, people such as college and university students and members of Black Lives Matter.

Of course, some claim ERIC is funded by George Soros (Wrong!). Apparently, Soros survived the Holocaust with the single-minded obsession to oppose every conservative political and social program or project in all Western nations.

Remember: we must Make America Great Again by denying the vote to those who (perhaps) don't agree with us. That's The American Way.

Thanks republican "normies". You had many opportunities as Charlie said to "take the off ramp from DJT". Once again we are subjected daily, to the torrent of manure that comes out of his mouth. There isn't a shovel big enough to contain all the bullpucky.

I got a chuckle out of an op-ed on the WaPo website this morning claiming that "Tim Scott is in a better position than you think." Oh please. The last of the actual conservatives in the GOP are squinting so hard to avoid seeing that Trump is going to be the nominee again.

George was right of course. Then, as now, he must not get close to power.

Remember whenever we told by reliable people that Youngkin was a normie? Virginia joined a lamentable list last week on two different fronts, Charlie

1) we are no longer part of ERIC and the Governor that ran on the specter election fraud in 2020 has now taken steps to ensure actual fraud is more likely to happen

2) VA jobs Utah in requiring porn websites verify age using either BIOMETRICS or government issued ID. The party of small government, folks.

If you look at this Party and feel that you need to defend to stay and defend the most indefensible human in American history over the last 3/4 century, then it is clear that while you might not be one yourself, you definitely feel more comfortable in the presence of white and/or Christian nationalists than you do secular small-l liberals. I don’t know what that says about you, but not much that’s good.
