1) Hey Musk, I thought you were a free speech absolutist, what happened? It isn't against the law to post that image, so why are you being more restrictive than the government when it comes to speech?
2) I'd actually like to ask Susan Collins what, if any, lessons Donald Trump has learned, in her opinion. Might have to dip into the national strategic reserve of popcorn for that answer, given the current national shortage.
Am I understanding correctly that the GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee actually posted on twitter, "Kanye, Elon, Trump" in October? And then took it down yesterday?
The Republican Party is trying to distance themselves now from Ye saying out loud who and what the Republican Party is at its core. Good luck running away from yourselves.
I am appalled at the media mantra that Kanye West is mentally ill. West is mentally ill only in the sense Hitler was mentally ill. He was not - he was a genocidal, racist who would have greeted West with a Zyklon B shower and a smile. West is fomenting genocide, spewing antisemitism and a media hog. Remind you of anyone? As a psychiatrist I am trained to diagnose mental illness. While West is a nasty motherfucker, I see no evidence of a diagnosable mental illness. As a declaimer I add I have never performed a diagnostic exam of West. By repeatedly trumpeting that West is mentally ill, THE TALKING HEADS ARE FORGIVING WEST FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS! “Poor guy doesn’t know what he’s saying!” West is responsible, an despicable. If he could I’m sure Aldolph would have him over for a shower - and West fabricated into a black lampshade to eternally cast his shade.
It's hard to think of someone in recent memory who's had as swift a decline as Kanye West. On the one hand, you hope this guy gets the serious help he needs. On the other hand, I suspect that will only be after he's been locked away. I can't say he doesn't deserve it at this point.
The Republican Party, gripped in its casual antisemitism and unfiltered desire to own the libs, once again has egg on their face. Elon Musk, who seems to consider himself a card-carrying member of the party, has to ruin a little bit of his "free speech" cred. If only someone could have told them all where this was going.
We all get it that Kanye is nuts, prejudiced, or both. But in some ways that isn't the biggest issue. The media are part of the problem, rather than the solution, if they keep giving him and his viewpoints oxygen by reporting them and analyzing them and bringing them to the attention of those who otherwise would not know about them, or even who he is. We also give him a platform here, even in merely calling him out for his offenses. Is that the best approach in the end?
We've all seen enough now to know that he will not change, no matter what others say or do. If anything he seems emboldened by the reporting. So rather than castigate him any further in vain, perhaps the better solution is to marginalize and isolate him. As with a temperamental toddler unwilling or unable to control the self, don't give him, free of charge, the attention that he seeks. Don't give him a platform for his divisive thoughts and rhetoric. And above all don't make him some sort of martyr, real or perceived, to those who already are looking for an excuse to put more time and effort into "owning the libs" and otherwise perpetuate the sort of hatred that ultimately transmogrified into January 6 at the U.S. Capitol, among other egregious efforts to seize the high ground by force of action no less than words.
Often in life, less is more. Less Kanye is more sanity. Less Kanye is more unity. Less Kanye is more rational thought and behavior. Deprive Kanye of the microphone and the coverage and you deprive him of his relevance. Let's go there and focus instead on calling out those who, from this decisively pro-Nazi Kanye moment onward, can and should be considered guilty by association if they do not forcefully denounce him and/or repudiate what he stands for. Make them make that choice, or not, and label them accordingly. That's what others need to know.
RE: Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler.
Loathe as I am to agree with this, I think perhaps I must. The value of Hitler (and Stalin and others) is that they showed us quite clearly what the face of evil incarnate looks like. It is a human face, not all that dissimilar from mine. Or from anyone else's. And if we ignore this lesson, we do so at our own peril.
What the man who spoke those words brings to the table in the way of 'value', I'm not quite sure. But hiding his face while speaking them might be a clue.
I get the outrage over Trump’s dinner with the two Nazis, but why does the fact that also breaking bread was a guy that got fired by Breitbart for promoting pedophilia?
Also, Elise Stefanik has not said nothing. She has already endorsed Trump for 2024 because she is so politically astute.
I am one of those strange people that loves reading court opinions. Thanks for the link to that. The opinion reads like an artfully and carefully (and legally) fashioned and phrased troll of both Cannon and the Trump legal team.
I can hear the sarcastic tone and see the rolling eyes--but perhaps that is merely the perception I bring to it (and I am sure that the Judges in question would naysay me).
After Charlottesville I decided it was time to buy some insurance and head to the range. The insurance being a Smith and Wesson model 686 and a Colt 6920. I’ve picked up a couple more since.
I really hope this is Peak Nazi in the US because getting to the range monthly to keep current is a pain, and not inexpensive, and I’d like to feel safe enough to sell them off.
For more excellent commentary on the Alex Jones/ Ye interview, I recommend Trae Crowder, The Liberal Redneck: "It's so wild to me how hard it apparently is for some people to not praise Hitler, 'cause, like, that's pretty much the easiest part of my whole life, not praising Hitler. I put zero energy towards that." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMKqYp517V0
GOP is now the Ye Old Party

Wait for Ye to start talking about all the good things plantation owners did in the 1800's.

Ye has taken Trumpism to its logical conclusion. The joys of Trumpism are the joys of the vandal. What could be more fun than rehabilitating Hitler?

I know a person with schizophrenia and she acts a lot like Ye when she’s not on meds, sans the anti-semitism. He’s clearly not well.

So, Hitler invented highways and microphones??
