So someone on the right says we need a dictatorship.

He also says that freedom is only possible with a moral people.

So when and where were these moral people who are in apparently in need of a dictator?

Back when Jim Crow laws were considered normal? Back when gays were put in prison? Back when women died from botched illegal abortions? Back when lynching was regular pastime for white Americans? Back when 25,000 members of the KKK marched down Pennsylvania Avenue in DC? Back when 10% of the Chinese population in LA County were murdered in ONE night? So when was this nation EVER a moral people?

Back in the 1970's David Bowie penned a song that sums it all up--- and what was once a dystopian nightmare just might be our imminent reality.

"Someone to claim us, someone to follow

Someone to shame us, some grave Apollo

Someone to fool us, someone like you

We want you, Big Brother!"

This is not the way a serious campaign operates. Remember how the Twitter Files allegedly showed that Twitter was working with the Biden campaign? Consistency is indeed for cucks.

Elon needs money. Twitter was an impulse purchase he tried to get out of and was forced to close. He knows the right is easier to monetize and is catering to them for that reason. The man doesn't have a single strongly held principle, but MAGA nation will empty their wallets for anyone who hates the same people they hate. I don't think it is any more complicated than that.

Someone tell Mona that long before 2013, Republicans were more than willing to run up the debt and cut taxes on wealthy people. Democratic administrations have been adding to the debt far less than Republican ones for decades now.

DeSantis and Musk. A clown has found a circus. Decide for yourself which one is which.

Some billionaires collect Supreme Court justices. Some collect presidential candidates. You’d think someone as opposed to the kinky stuff as Ron DeSantis would object to wearing a leash. It’s always the ones you most suspect.

“My conservative colleagues for the most part support Limit, Save, Grow, and they don’t feel like we should negotiate with our hostage,” said right-wing Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

The above from Heather Cox Richardson, juxtapose with the tepid

"the GOP has abandoned good faith altogether" from Ms.Charen. I submit she should have been paying closer attention in 2013, and maybe 2008, and maybe 2001, and certainly in 2017. Republicans have been running up debt on bad faith for 2 decades now. They abandoned all pretense of trying to govern when Obama was elected. The tea party, freedumb caucus, or per Mr. Gaetz the Hostage takers have been the natural progression. And of course the next logical step for a party that has nothing the American people want, is a dictator to force them to want it. Not unlike the states with gerrymandered republican legislatures ignoring the will of the voters.

So, the Republicans still want Trump, a man who is in worse mental shape than Senator Feinstein. She has just deteriorated, he is a raving mass of anger and distortions, with no insight into his illness. The next choice is a clueless all-out fascist, who is quieter but probably crueler then Trump. And now we have the fate of America’s economic status as a world leader in the hands of Kevin McCarthy, a man with no morals, no integrity, and who is being led around by a group that really wants to destroy our government and replace it was a kleptocracy. Way to go “ Conservative” Republicans, you reap what you have sown. Or, as you have said: "Great, just Great."

"a petulant child" who is "blinded by his anger" WOW! It sounds like a very true description to me, but what astounds me is that there are SO many people (including some of my own family, unfortunately) who think that this person should be given control of nuclear codes. :(

Nothing says "I have complete faith in my vision of how America should be run" than avoiding a crowded announcement rally packed full of your followers, and instead having an online discussion with a South African billionaire.

As a Mason alumnus, I agree with Washington's broader point, but I'm at a loss as to why he doesn't seem to get that he made an unwise move. A commencement is, at heart, a particularly boring party, like a wedding and reception without the food. Nobody would insist that the groom's ex was getting cancelled if the bride refused to let her make one of the wedding toasts. This isn't a political event; it's a celebration in honor of the graduates, and inviting controversial figures into it just steals attention from the people who are supposed to be getting celebrated.

Ron DeSantis seems to be launching a campaign for the newly created office of High Chancellor, who is only seen on screens but never interacts with actual people.

I think I'll join the chihuahua who had the good sense not to get out of bed yet.

Why on earth does Tim Scott, who seems like an okay guy not yet slimed by the sludge of the R party, want to be associated with them? The last thing the country needs is another delusional politician who thinks Rs are sane.
