Very bold of Trump to assume the Russians have dirt on Hunter Biden they passed on releasing for the 2020 election and were just randomly saving for April 2022. You can smell the desperation.

Simple. The Republicans think of the Republican Party as their nation. Thus it is not treason to work with Putin. Trump takes it a step further. Like the Sun King and Henry Vlll, rulers by divine right, he is the nation. That's why a wife of Henry Vlll who cheated on him had committed treason. Only when a Venn diagram shows a complete overlap of America and the Republican Party will they think of America as their nattion. They really do believe they have the divine right to rule. See Mark Meadows.

Is It Racist to Help Ukraine? Of curse not but those who pose the question are not really being answered. As Mona quotes Adam Smith she puts her finger on the problem and then looks away. It is human to care more about those who look and live like yourself. It is simply too facile to call this human indifference as mere racism. It is far more complex.

However when pointing out the inequitable response to the suffering of others it does no good to initiate a litany of "but what about when we..." because that is simply a distraction from the real truth of the criticism.

It would be different if critics were saying "Let's not help Ukraine because we haven't responded well to others..." Or "Stop helping Ukraine until we make sure others are treated equitably..." But that is not what they are asking or demanding. They are simply asking why the same commitment hasn't been offered in the past and can we change that, or even consider changing that, going forward.

Enjoyed your podcast with Professor Fukuyama. It was so insightful. And for that call to the younger generation not to be complacent and not to take liberal democracy for granted, I stood up to applaud.

By the way, note how the former guy’s bodacious and open request to Putin, and the renewed interest in going after Hunter Biden’s laptop and the Biden family is brought up right when a seven-hour gap in the White House phone records is revealed, and when a Federal Judge rules that Trump likely violated criminal statutes in connection with the Jan 6 attack.

As Charlie observed, our vocabulary of outrage has been taxed to exhaustion by Donald Trump. But my own personal one is getting its second wind. And I've made no vow to fast vis a vie obscenities and Lent. However, I'll be hurling no profanities toward that son of a bitch here. Well, beyond that last, anyway.

Trump is what he is, and he does what he does, and by now we should all well know this. And while some may be justifiably and viscerally outraged at this latest act of base and despicable treachery toward our country, none should be shocked or surprised. Some folks will perhaps not get this, but for me - an ardent and proud Never Trumper from long before the time the term was even coined - both emotionally and intellectually, my reaction is pretty much the equivalent of a mental shrug. I mean c'mon, what did you expect?

No, the gathering wind in my vocabulary is for the men and women who will still - after all that's come before this, and now this itself - praise, support, promote, and embrace this modern-day Benedict Arnold, along with all those who refuse to raise their voice to condemn or even mildly criticize him, especially and particularly those in the political realm who see such an action as disadvantageous to their political careers or goals. They are, through their words and deeds, or lack thereof, complicit in the on-going treachery, and are no better than the man himself. So, let me just take a breath here and sum up my feelings toward them as Americans and as human beings...

Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em all. May their fates be in the end as ignominious as Arnold's, and their names remembered thusly.

Sorry about the language. But, I do feel a bit better. Exercising that vocabulary occasionally is a pretty good way to keep it in shape for perhaps more important endeavors yet to come.

Jeez, yet another assault on our senses of decency. Between the pleas to Putin for Biden's son and Putin's attempts to have Zelensky assassinated and now finding a gap in phone records that would have made Rosemary Woods blush, we find ourselves with a republican party that has no moral compass at all. None.

But the scary part is how many people continue to think Trump is great. Maybe he should send his shock troops directly to Putin to help the poor boy out.

But it's not just Trump. He's the boil on the surface but the disease is within that allows the boil to fester. It's in the house, it's in the senate. It's in their blood and bones now. When John McCain was alive, he really was not necessarily rational much of the time. Now, in death he looks like a saint. And look at what was left? - Lindsay Graham, Mark Meadows, Kevin McCarthy Ted Cruz and Ron Desantis. It's just pathetic and profoundly dangerous and the crowd loves it.

Try to imagine any of those people prosecuting the War effort.

I really prefer Andy Borosky's conclusion that Trump was watching Shark week on the discovery channel for that period of time.

Treason is the reason he has and still does hobnob with Putin. Putin has something on him. The GOP is the party of treason now. AOC called for expulsions. She is spot-on. But it is up to the voters whose votes may or may not be counted. It is scary as hell.

I've got to be honest, 1.2 million installations sounds a bit higher than I would have expected for Truth Social. As for Trump's treason, what can you say? What is left to say? This pattern has been obvious for going on a decade now, Republicans will rationalize it into the left being ridiculous TDS sufferers, and they'll support Putin's puppet for another go round. Even the Liz Cheneys and Adam Kinzingers of the world have never called out Trump for reliably bending over for Putin, I suppose because it means in some way they'd have to concede Hillary Clinton was right all along about Trump. She was right about a lot of things.

Without comment, from The Washington Times: A Russian television personality reportedly called for “regime change” in the U.S. by removing President Biden and reinstalling former President Donald Trump. Evgeny Popov, the host of the “60 Minutes” show, characterized the ex-president as a partner, according to The Daily Mail. “It’s time for us, our people, to call on the people of the United States to change the regime in the U.S. early, and to again help our partner, Trump, to become president,” Mr. Popov said.

The Washington Post has it all wrong. Democracy doesn't die in darkness, it dies in the full light of day by followers who approve of its death.

Remember these comments came on the same day that Russian State Media said that the US should change out the Biden regime for their "partner", Trump. People are openly committing treason while we watch and no one is getting arrested or prosecuted. Never thought I'd see the day.

I would be interested in what Putin has on Trump with respect to the oligarchs, since some of his dealings with them seem to smell of money laundering and one of the boys did state that they were getting a lot of money from Russia.

In the service of self-interest there is no bottom. Trump and the GoP repeatedly demonstrate this to us and yet many people still have failed to get the message.

When you are a people set apart--the Chosen People, the Righteous People (or simply the narcissistic sociopath people, in the case of Trump). The ethical judgments of those who are not of the Chosen/Righteous have no currency.

These people took umbrage at being called deplorable--all the while firmly believing that the true deplorables were the people who disagreed with them... which made being called deplorable doubly irksome. How dare these scum call me deplorable, what right to they have yo do so. What right do THEY have to set themselves up in judgment of me and mine?

The GoP will not try and defend this. They will be unavailable for comment, or won't have time as they hurry through the Capitol on the way to whatever it is they are late to be getting to. It will not show up on Faux, so as far as the rank and file goes it is a non-event or a provocation, false-flag, misrepresentation, whatever.

O tempora, o mores! Senatus haec intellegit, Consul videt; hic tamen vivit. vivit? immo vero etiam in Senatum venit, fit publici consili particeps, notat et designat oculis ad caedem unum quemque nostrum!

Trump and his minions are in the process of creating the 10th cirlce of hell (shout out to Dante). It could be named Trump and be the place where all the previous circles (Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, Treachery) co-exist in harmony.

Here is my question: is there actually any real dirt on Hunter Biden that hasn’t already come out? And has he done anything that Rudy et al haven’t done, trading a bit on a name and theoretical access?

Trump's Harold Hill if he never fell in love. He peddles fear and racism to a group that needs to feel victimized, despite their higher median net worth and social status. It's said that almost 60% if white Americans agree with him
